Stomatology refers to the branch of medical science that focuses on the mouth, its nearby structures, and the disorders and diseases thereof. Stomatology lies at the interface between the practices of medicine and dentistry, and thus encompasses dentistry as a healthcare practice. General dentistry refers to the practice of dentistry generally, which relates primarily to the general maintenance of oral hygiene and tooth health.

Our stomatology and general dentistry services include, amongst others, examination and diagnosis, treatment planning, scaling, polishing, fluoride treatment, fillings and extractions as well as treatments for dentine hypersensitivity (sensitive teeth) and patient education.

Most of our dental centres are equipped with dental X-ray facilities, some with cone beam computer tomography (“CBCT”), panoramic X-rays and lateral cephalometric X-rays. CBCT allows cross-sectional images to be obtained, and the data can be used to construct a three-dimensional (3D) image of teeth and oral-facial skeletal structure. A panoramic X-ray is a panoramic scanning dental X-ray of the upper and lower jaw. A lateral cephalometric X-ray shows the side view of the head.

Endodontics refers to the practice of dentistry that focuses on dental pulp and the tissues surrounding the root ends of teeth. Dental pulp (containing nerves and other soft tissue) can become diseased by deep decay of teeth or injured when a tooth sustains trauma and gets chipped or fractured. In many such cases, the dental pulp is unable to repair itself; if it dies, root canal treatment is required. Our endodontic services include, amongst others, pulp capping, root canal treatment/retreatment, endodontic surgery, bleaching of discoloured non-vital teeth, treating traumatic tooth injuries and diagnosing and treating dental pain.

Orthodontics refers to the practice of dentistry that focuses on the treatment of dento-facial irregularities or malocclusions (improper bites). Orthodontic treatment is generally carried out for the following reasons: (i) to improve biting efficiency and speech; (ii) for general oral hygiene (thus minimising the risk of oral diseases) and to reduce the risk of injury to irregularly positioned teeth; and (iii) for aesthetic purposes and to improve the appearance of teeth and bite. Our orthodontic services include, amongst others, the prescription and affixation of orthodontic brackets and braces.

Periodontics refers to the practice of dentistry that focuses on the supporting and investing structures of teeth, including the gums, cementum, periodontal ligaments and alveolar bone. Our periodontics services include, amongst others, supervised oral hygiene methods, non-surgical and surgical scaling, root planing and placement of implants to achieve a healthy oral environment conducive for the retention of teeth and dental prosthesis.

Prosthodontics refers to the practice of dentistry that focuses on the restoration of tooth structure and replacement of missing teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissue. Our prosthodontic services include, amongst others, inlays, onlays, veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, implant restorations, oral rehabilitation and the management of parafunctional anomalies, such as bruxism (grinding of teeth), temporo-mandibular joint disorder (pain and inflammation affecting the jaw joint and associated muscles), snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.

Dental implantology refers to the practice of dentistry that focuses on the replacement and reconstruction of teeth and their supporting structures and the restoration thereof, using dental implants.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery refers to the practice of medicine and dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, management and treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the mouth, jaw and associated facial structures. Our oral and maxillofacial surgical services include, amongst others, medical and surgical services such as dentoalveolar and wisdom teeth extractions and surgeries, sinus-lift procedures, bone grafting as well as adjunct surgery (particularly in relation to our practice of orthodontics).

Aesthetic dentistry refers to the practice of dentistry that focuses on the appearance of dentition as achieved through its arrangement, form and colour. Our aesthetic dentistry services include, amongst others, teeth whitening, as well as orthodontic and prosthodontic services.

Paedodontics, also known as paediatric dentistry, refers to the practice of dentistry and provision of dental services to children aged 1 to 17 years. Our paedodontic services are similar to our general dental services.
